I supposed that is a good thing.

That's an awesome quote.

And true of a lot of us. My life, right at this moment, is not at all what I had pictured when going through fertility treatments for Our Girl. Things were somehow more charming? appealing? in my plans ... and I somehow skipped over the fact that, as the Mommy, I would be responsible for Making Things Happen. For example, never in my wildest dreams did I yearn to have to set a timer every 60 minutes so I could remember to let a two-year-old have "Potty Time." But things like having a potty-trained kid, or a great vacation, or Christmas traditions, or dinner on the table don't just happen. The details of parenting kind of suck sometimes.

Don't even get me started on the details of wifing ...

We've discussed a few of the finer points of Wifing before, and suffice it to say that I wasn't thinking of picking fingernail clippings out of the carpet and getting used to various family members showing up at our home and using it as a rest stop at any time of the day or night when I pledged to love and honor J for all the days of my life.
