From a conversation with my mom, in which she shared gossip from a family gathering this weekend:

• “Aunt W. and I got to play with [baby] at the party. We told everyone, since we can’t get any grandchildren of our own, we have to start stealing other people’s!”
• About my female cousin having a boyfriend: “I’m so glad – I was so scared she’d turn out to be GAY.” [emphasis hers]

Sigh.

I'm so sorry about #1. Even the well-meaning "So when is it your turn?" comments suck. I can't imagine how painful a pointed, sarcastic comment from your mother would be.

Um. Wow. That must have felt like a slap in the face. On the plus side, at least they weren't concerned that YOU were gay.
