Before I go to the store, I rewrite my grocery list in an order that makes for the most efficient route for whatever place I’m going. I make note of what time I walk in and what time I leave, and race myself. If I’m in and out in under 15 minutes, I am Awesome. This practice gives me a sense of purpose and accomplishment in an uncertain world.

I'm just happy if I buy three or fewer things that are not on my list.

Yeah, I try to stick really closely to the list and get in and out as soon as possible, unless we're in a fun grocery store like Whole Foods or Central Market. Chris, however, likes to shop for meals by what ideas he gets at the store. This difference drives me crazy. I can't go without a list and just ... figure it out as I go. (shudder)

I make my list in isle order, but I have never, ever thought to time myself. You are a genius. Someone should reward you for your ideas. You just made grocery shopping so much fun for me. I am going to report back to you my next time.
